Who Can Benefit

The COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (Latex) is suitable for the qualitative detection of novel coronaviruses in saliva, sputum (each from the posterior oropharyngeal region) and stool specimens. It aids in the diagnosis of infection with new types of coronaviruses. The COVID-19 Antigen rapid test (Latex) is intended to be used in conjunction with clinical manifestations and other laboratory test results to aid in the diagnosis of patients with suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection. The test is to be used only by medical personnel. It provides only an initial screening test result and more specific, alternative diagnostic methods should be performed to obtain confirmation of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

You should undergo this test if you fall under the following categories in the table.

Symptomatic

Symptomatic (5-7 days) or known or suspected exposure

Asymptomatic

Asymptomatic without known or suspected exposure

Covid Positive

Covid positive individuals in self-quarantine

FAQS

Rapid Antigen Saliva Kit

QUESTION #1

What are antigens?

Antigens are proteins released by the virus that triggers the immune system to release antibodies

QUESTION #2

What are the strenghts?

The main selling points of saliva tests are that they are less invasive and cheaper than reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.

QUESTION #3

How accurate is it?

The COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test (Latex) was compared with a leading commercial reagent (PCR). The results show that the COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test (Latex) has high sensitivity and specificity. It has a relative overall accuracy of 93-96%. (Relative sensitivity: 90-95%; relative specificity: 100%)

QUESTION #4

How is it done?

  1. Saliva or sputum specimen: approximately 200mg of fresh saliva or sputum is transferred from the container to the specimen extraction tube and mixed completely

  2. Test cassette is removed from the packaging bag, and 3 drops of the sample is placed vertically into the sample hole.

  3. Results are read after 15 minutes. If left unread for 20 minutes or longer, results are invalid. A retest is recommended.

QUESTION #5

Do I still need a PCR test?

PCR is recommended when a patient has negative results but is experiencing  symptoms or has known exposure to a covid positive individual.

QUESTION #6

How much does it cost?

If you need us to supply you with the kits for the appointment, each kit is priced at 550 pesos
